THE GAME CHANGER
Three tournament days, three different looks. Bernhard Langer’s unusual modelling job in Arizona paid off in spectacular fashion. See how world class golfer Langer is revolutionising style on the golf course.
Superlatives are unnecessary for anyone who has followed Langer’s career for long. Originally from Bavarian Swabia, the now 61-year-old and long-time naturalised American is always setting new golfing records. Almost as long-standing as Langer’s success, is his friendship with Willy Bogner. This connection with the company and Langer’s top playing level opened up the opportunity for a unique golf experiment, which Langer gamely agreed to at the end of last year.
3 DAYS, 3 LOOKS
The Bogner Team flew out to meet him before the Charles Schwab Cup tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. Would he be able to place high enough here to win? According to the points, the competition was still all to play for towards the end of the season. Despite this added pressure, Langer agreed to be followed by a Bogner camera crew throughout the tournament and to present the new golf wear collection. A different outfit for each day of the tournament - there aren’t many top sportsmen who’d agree to that under competition conditions.
LIKE A CHAMPION
While his opponents were left to play the tournament in Phoenix in peace, Langer completed a modelling job on the side. There was one detail in particular which was new to the gathered golf elite: the small, practical zip on the polo shirt. Until now, buttons had always been used here. By the end of the third day of the tournament, Langer had appeared before spectators in three different looks. The true victory came with the results of his opponents. Langer, aka “The Germinator” takes the silver cup… For the fifth time of course, but for the first time as the result of a fashion shoot.
