The decision of the Family Council - Sônia and Willy Bogner Jr were to head the US subsidiary from 1973! Not an easy task for the newlyweds, because “BOGNER of America” had only been founded a year earlier. Also, Willy had only joined his parents’ company in 1972 as manager for sports collections and advertising.

But Sônia and Willy soon felt at home in Newport, Vermont. They loved the maple forests, and bought a house right on the shore of Lake Memphremagog - their first real home together. “The time in America made me fit to run the company later,” Willy was to say in retrospect.
