In the Realm of Colors

“Colorful is cheerful!”, Willy Bogner Jr once said. This life-affirming colourfulness runs through BOGNER’s entire design history. In 1961, the US magazine “Sports Illustrated” wrote about Maria Bogner’s famous wedge pants, saying that their bright fuchsia and chartreuse shades were superior to the old gray, black and brown ski pants. In the 1970s, colors like orange and sunshine yellow made their way onto skiwear with Willy Bogner Jr’s “Formula W” collection. Things really got vibrant in the colourful 1980s when the young designer Gotthardin Thylmann joined BOGNER and combined high-fashion trends to make sporty functional clothing.

Color blocking and contrasting embroidery dominated his collections. “All of a sudden the slopes were rocking in bright colours!”, Willy Bogner Jr later reminisced about these times. To this day, striking color blocking is an indispensable stylistic device that runs through all the collections. After all, sport makes you happy – and colors make you cheerful.
